Somewhat disjointed June 25, 2006 B. Gehring 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
The first few chapters were a reasonable introduction to VBA for Excel, but after that, the examples, while being quite relevant and useful, seemed somewhat random, and did not strike me as being well supported by the text. I think that those who are looking for an abundance of code examples will be reasonably happy. The book is full of code handling tasks that most Excel VBA programmers will need to find solutions to. Those looking for a tutorial, for examples of good coding practice and principles, and an understanding of the underlying principles of VBA in the Excel environment, should probably look elsewhere. Walkenbach's Power Programming is excellent. VBA for Modelers, by Albright, is a book that does a great job of combining theory and practical code examples for me. For people looking for advanced material, Excel with VBA & .NET by Jeff Webb, and Professional Excel Developement by Bullen, Bovey and Green are very good.
Very good book June 15, 2006 Indikos (Fairfax, Va) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I highly recommned this book for people writing Excel macros and VBA. Very well organized and nice snappy text keeps you engaged and going. Lots of good code too. It is an intermediate level text.
Great First Book for Writing Macros March 20, 2006 Mark Hanisco (Philadelphia, PA USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a great book for getting started. I recommend it to all my friends and business associates who want to get started writing macros for excel.
Great examples, very useful for problem solving. February 10, 2006 Robert Elliott (Chicagoland (formerly Berwyn)) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
This book is not a basic level book. You must have a good basic knowledge of VBA and Macros in Excel. If you are experienced, and need to perform tasks you have not performed to before, this book is an absolute must. Not for the novice.
Don't bother - plain and simple. September 1, 2005 Thomas Smith 8 out of 35 found this review helpful
This book is pure junk. The mistakes and errors are shameful and disappointing. Be careful of the other reviews, they are all from associates of the author.
