    Product Description
The Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router combines the functionalities of three devices into a single device, a wireless access point, a four-port full-duplex 10/100 Mbps switch and a router. The wireless access point lets you connect Wireless-G or Wireless-B devices to the network while the switch connects your wired-Ethernet devices together. The router function ties it all together by letting your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The push button setup feature makes it easy to configure your wireless devices. The router serves as a DHCP server, includes an SPI firewall to protect against Internet intruders and also supports VPN pass-through. The WRT54GL even features TKIP and AES to protect your data and privacy with up to 128-bit encryption. With the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers and multi-player games with flexibility, speed, security and simplicity. 5 out of 5 stars Reliable and flexible router, plus open firmware!   November 22, 2008
    Shaun Culler (Spokane, WA, USA)
I have two linksys routers, one of these WRT54GL, and an older G, both running WW-DRT firmware to increase range and abilities. I have them linked using WDS and the power increased to 100mW for better range. Once setup, I haven't even had to power cycle or reset either of them, they just work. After installing WW-DRT on these routers, they pretty much have the features of a router that costs x5 more, you can't find a better deal than that.

    5 out of 5 stars Well-deserved reputation   November 13, 2008
Isaac Hepworth (San Francisco, CA USA)
I bought this device on the back of its reputation for reliability and flexibility and value for money. I'm completely satisfied.

Installed the Tomato firmware on Day One and haven't looked back. Very solid product.

5 out of 5 stars Nice internet and networking solution.   November 11, 2008
    J. Wright (tallahassee, FL United States)
I have two desktops which I wanted to connect to broadband modem via cat5 cable plus we intend to purchase a laptop around Christmas and we want to connect it via wireless. We also wanted to network.

There is no paper documentation but there's supposed to be a user's manual on the CD. I didn't need it so I haven't checked. Setup was very simple, just insert the CD and follow prompts.

Both desktops accessed internet immediately and speed seems the same as before. However, after running the Windows XP Home network setup wizard, neither pc could see the other on the network.

After some experimentation and searching the net for a solution, it turned out that I only needed to do two things......disable Norton 360 firewall and manually configure the router. That is, manually assign the ip addresses for both pc's.

I can't comment on the wireless capabilities yet but, having used Linksys products almost exclusively, I don't expect to have any problems. Good stuff.

5 out of 5 stars Rock solid   November 10, 2008
    Caleb J. Cittadino (denver, colorado)
Dropped dd-wrt on this guy and it's been up w/o issue ever since (about 2 month uptime). I have torrents running often as well as streaming content and web browsing w/o any lockup. If you do your research, I think you'll find this is the best consumer level router available. Thanks to Linksys for bringing the linux version back!

5 out of 5 stars Works great!   November 9, 2008
    V. Vora (Irvine, CA)
I've bought and installed 4 of these so far and I use one personally at home. I'm going to end up buying 2-3 more.

I'm using them with the after market firmware Tomato.

    They work extremely well.

A+ to Linksys for an amazing product.
