I purchased this hoping to transfer all the stuff you have on your old computer that you can't easily duplicate or don't have disks for. What is absured is there is no instructions. It comes with a quick guide that only tells you how to install the software. You have to read the readme file on the disk which I normally don't do. I couldn't get it to transfer the files directly from computer to computer so my other choice was to create a file with all the inofrmation on my old computer. They give you this choice in case you want to keep it to transfer at a later date or just want to keep a copy of it. You then have to copy the file on to some type of media and then recopy it to Your new computer. I tried using a 4 gig memory stick but did not have enough storage space so it would abort. I then hooked up another hard drive and transfered the file. After that recopying it to my new computer it has a program that will reinstall it to your new computer in the right areas. Everything works, no problems. It seemed like there was enough data that it transfered almost everything but I found it transfered very few programs so you still have to reinstall your previous programs. What it did transfer I probably could have done the old way just as fast as it took me to use this program. It didn't transfer anywhere near as much as I expected but what it did transfer works fine. I probably wouldn't purchase this again and just start over with a new computer.
Couldn't get it to work....lost 2 days on this May 2, 2007 xpuser (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm surprised why this would not work. It seemed to get my desktop settings right. But the most important thing: my data it didn't get right! :( The file and byte count didn't match(not even close) between the source and target XP systems. It also copied a secondary backup drive on the source computer even though I didn't specify it. Another shock: it didn't get the byte or file count right on the secondary drive on the source computer either! But not getting the byte and file count for my crucial data directories just shocked me...I'm now going to just do a manual move I think. I've to reimage my target pc again(because i'm not sure what this program did!), and then just do the move manually. I can't believe XP does not have something like this built-in, that users have to try programs that don't work.

I couldn't get it to work for me and found it easier to simply reinstall all programs (a chore) and copy "documents and settings folder" (easy)
