Product Description DOOM Collector's Edition brings together the classic shooter action of the DOOM games. Relive the beginnings of first-person shooter action in Ultimate DOOM, where you'll navigate a radioactive moonbase and blow away demonic aliens. In DOOM II, the aliens have reached Earth, leaving millions dead. Pick up your guns again and fight them off. Then close off the incredible, blood-spattered story in Final DOOM.

Great then, Great now. October 11, 2007 S. Szott 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I get sick of people who play "classic" games for the nostalgia value. DOOM is far and away one of the greatest shooter games of all time, even when compared to current games. The game is nonstop action without any tricky plot turns or other garbage. All three games are so fun you will want to play them again and again. I have played "knee deep in the dead" so many times that I have lost count, but I still enjoy playing it. If you have never played DOOM, your life is not complete.
Aged, but still not Old May 26, 2007 Dakotah Young (Iowa, United States of America) It doesn't matter how old these games are and it may never matter, they are fun. These are the games that nearly every gamer remembers playing either as a kid or just starting out. It's the only set that held the gaming community for so long and still holds today. It has the originality that every game since it has longed for. It scared the hell out of you; not because it was the first time you'd seen a monster, not because it was your first game (if you were a true gamer), not because it was dark and you were alone...You saw that stuff in movies and on the television, it scared you because it was YOU...You were the one it was trying to kill. Rather tha nthe asteroid breaking your (note, that's possessive) spaceship, it was an imp shooting a fireball at YOU, and it was scary as hell...Which, conveniently, was a common setting for the games. It remains one of the most playable games I have ever known. I've beaten them all multiple times and all of them (with the exclusion of the third) are still as fun and exciting as they always were.
THE classic FPS December 22, 2006 bterrier (NC) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Doom was created by the genius team of Carmack and Romero. No big game corporation now can achieve the originality of that first true immersive environment. It may be a bit dated now but Carmack was the trail blazer for PC action game graphics and Romero the inspiration for the action. And, you get the Bobby Prince soundtrack which to date imo has never been topped. (Bobby Prince, where are you?!?!) Anyone into PC gaming needs to experience this classic. Doom I quickly achieved infamy for destroying work productivity everywhere. It is in fact the cornerstone of immersive game history. Doom I for XP is a must. Personally, I did not like Doom II as much as I, but that's just me. The third part of this package I can't speak to as I haven't played it, but if you are really into Doom the additional levels are probably worth it.
The most enjoyable collection of games -- even today. November 6, 2006 Ashraf Eassa (New Hampshire, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This collection contains the three most enjoyable games ever concieved. First, the Ultimate Doom which set the world ablaze with its sharp visuals and pulse-pounding single and multiplayer gaming. The second game, Doom 2, was not as good as the original -- it was better. A host of new, more deadly, foes and even more creative maps make it a worthy addition to the Doom franchise. The last game of the set, Final Doom, is an interesting work. It was not made by Id Software, but rather, a set of maps produced by a team named TeamTNT. It's essentially two 32 level episodes that are based off the Doom storyline. The maps are of the highest quality and due to their difficulty on the higher skill levels, they're great co-op games. In short, if you don't have all three of these games, buy this collection. It's great as a single player game, but when you've got a LAN party going, coupled with one of the modern source ports (Doom Legacy is a good one), you can have some of the most intense gaming moments you've ever experienced -- outdoing today's top titles. I state again for clarity: buy it.
Old School October 25, 2006 this game is the best first person shooter game to date! just a little example of how some games still remain cool even with age (just like fruit!) if you played these games years ago then buy it and if you have never played it before buy it
