DO NOT BUY THIS May 16, 2008 Steve Vai 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Well to make a long story short and many e-mails to magix, they are unable to tell me why their Mp3 maker program does not make mp3s. All other programs that I have tried work fine such as Windows media player, itunes and many others but their program is a piece of junk and I will never waist my money on any Magix product again. I'm still waiting for them to give me my money back. I'll stay with itunes, it was free and works great. Please take my advice, after trying 2 magix products that didn't work, I've had enough of this. just read all the blogs and you will hear the same stuff.

a worse mp3 ripper than mp3 maker 2005 & the install of mpr maker 12 disabled my older version that worked better old version ripped at 60x new rips at 19x. old version will not work even after an uninstall & a restore to before the mp3 maker 12 install. avoid!!
Needs Further Development January 15, 2008 Writer 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Three major flaws: 1. The database is very unstable. It drops music files (database records) at random and at random times. The music file is still in the folder in your mass storage unit, but the database can't find it -- presumably because the path has become corrupted. Fortunately, you can import the MP3 file from the folder but, in so doing, you will create duplicate database records that then need to be deleted. If you use this product as a DJ, it may be your last gig when you suddenly discover your playlist is missing songs and you're not quite sure which ones. 2. Also, you must be very, very careful in moving the cursor to select songs. It is very easy to inadvertently drag a song from one folder to another because no confirmation is required. When that happens, you will have a mess on your hands. You can drag it back to the correct folder, but the database won't recognize this action. 3. Finally, as is so often the case, the manufacturer wants you to believe that the product is perfect. Therefore, the 172 page manual (that you must download and use your own paper and toner to print) gives no clues for debugging these problems since, after all, they must not have happened. For these three reasons, you might want to look elsewhere for a better product with more realistic and helpful documentation.
