is that this program seems to put a lot more of a strain on system resources than previous versions. I have an older computer, and the Sonic Foundry version all very extremely fast. This one, as with other Sony software I use...is soooo slllllooooooooowwwwwwwww. So if your hardware is an issue you'll want to upgrade before getting this software.

I am a big fan of Sonic Foundry/Sony music and audio software products, and I like how they continue to out do themselves with every release. Same goes with this new little thing: ACID Pro 5.
This software is utterly perfect for both loop-based music creation, and original performance recording. Not only does it incorporate its high power features with your musical ability, it also comes with a large loop library.
If you want to do some home recording. Pick this up. NOW!!!

I downloaded Acid Pro 5 trial software to test before I purchase. I am using Full Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2. Even with this trial software, I have had no problems at all that is stated above by SIR.
I am a computer programmer and database administrator by trade. When I installed the trial software, I did notice that Acid is using the desktop version of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 as a database media manager to manage and track files.
In looking at the error listed by SIR, I would say that either the MS SQL desktop application was not installed, or didn't get installed correctly, resulting in the error listed.
For the record, I now have MS SQL 2000 Desktop, MS SQL Server 2000 Developer SP3, and MS SQL Server 2005 Beta 2 currently installed on my computer. If any environment would cause SQL errors with Acid Pro 5 not running correctly, it would be mine.
I have created songs, saved them, and even burned CD's without errors. I plan to purchase Acid in the near future. Hope this was helpful.
