A Great Deal! March 13, 2007 DJA (Downingtown, PA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased several copies of this to load on some of the computers in our school. These computers are running Windows XP and I've not had any problems with the program working correctly. Its a very good training program for both kids and adults. I qualify as an "expert" typist, but I still find the games and challenges enjoyable. The students love the layout and enjoy the travel theme. What is especially helpful is the detailed analysis of typing speed and accuracy, which allows the user to pinpoint weak areas.
TYPING INSTRUCTOR installed and loads for me. July 30, 2006 snow white (Ohio, United States) I bought it new from a store. TYPING INSTRUCTOR 15 installed easily for me. I did install disconnected from the internet. I have windows 98. Maybe that's why it was simple. I gave it 4 stars because a couple of the video games don't run. They are a minor part of the program, and it was well worth the $9.00 I bought "Mavis Beacon Version 15: first, and had to throw it out.
BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT! November 1, 2003 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Though I just finished installing 30 other programs on my computer without a problem, THIS PROGRAM NOT ONLY CRASHED on my Windows 98 computer, but IT CRASHED MY HARD DRIVE and TOLD ME I NEED TO REINSTALL MY OPERATING SYSTEM! When I contacted their tech support, I was told there had been many calls from people having similar problems, and that I needed to not only download and install fonts, but had to download and install 4 OTHER UPDATES, including Internet Explorer, even though this computer would not be connecting to the Internet! If you do not know how to fix problems this program causes, do not buy this product!
Great Program August 6, 2003 Dale T. Brose (Highland, CA United States) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I remember this program back when it was the Lobster typing tutor on 5" floppy running on Win 3.X. I've purchased other versions over the years to be compatible with Win 95 & 98, and just recently purchased it again in XP format. The program is simple to use but not sophmoric like Mavis Beacon. I know if I could just dedicate the time necessary on a continual basis I could learn to type using this program without having to constantly look at the keyboard. The music is annoying but is easily turned off. This program saves all your personal settings and goals, and also allows more than one person to learn typing at different levels. It's an all around GREAT typing tutor.
