Product Description In Barbie Team Gymnastics, you'll join Barbie & her friends as they exercise, practice, and compete in a variety of gymnastic events!
Amazon.com Review Is the fiercely competitive world of female gymnastics ready for the perkiness of Team Barbie? Once we got over those impossible bodies, we grudgingly realized that Barbie Team Gymnastics would probably be a dream come true for any girl who loves both gymnastics and Barbie. However, don't rely on this game to teach any lessons about sportsmanship: either Team Barbie cheats, or the judges in this program all work for Mattel. Play begins in the lounge, where Barbie and her lithesome yet curvy teammates, Christie and Teresa, await practice orders. Players must guide the girls through practice routines on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor. Moves are executed by hitting the arrow keys and space bar in a sequence that suddenly appears on the left side of the screen. If a player hits the wrong keys, or doesn't hit the right keys soon enough, their gymnast will bobble or (gasp!) fall off their apparatus, and the coach, Kira, will chirp "Don't give up!" as the program churns relentlessly onward. Maintaining composure after knocking Barbie off the beam is difficult, but just like an actual competition, the good players shake it off and keep going. Young gymnasts will probably enjoy sweating out their mistakes, the realism of the sounds (that hollow thud as hands and feet contact the balance beam), and the 3-D images of gymnasts performing their moves as the "camera" swoops in for different angles. Another nice touch is a replay component that allows players to watch their routines once completed. It's hard to watch the routine as it's being executed, because you must instead keep your eyes on the "Power Bar" that orders the keystrokes for each move. When players master enough walkovers and handsprings to earn a high score, they're allowed to attend local, sectional, regional, and national competitions where prizes are trophies, new moves to add to their repertoire, and of course, new team outfits. Here's where the cheating came in: at a local competition, we ran our Team Barbie members through their paces and scored 9.2s and 9.3s, while our competitors consistently scored 9.5s and 9.6s. Despite this, come trophy time, Team Barbie got the gold with a score average that was mysteriously boosted to 9.4! For this blatant disregard for the lessons of losing and accurate math, we'll give Barbie Team Gymnastics an 8.3 for style, and a 7.0 for execution. (Ages 6 and older) --Anne Erickson

I found a Patch after a long search April 14, 2007 This year (2007) I turned 12 and so I decided to look for my old Barbie Team Gymnastics Game, since I am a Level 4 gymnast. I installed it and went through the intro video and then, when I tried to practice vault, I got that stupid error message CPU Not Returned. I got really angry and finally decided to search for a patch. I may only be 12, but I am very computer advanced to most children my age, which is why, in the end, I was able to find a working patch which has made my Barbie Team Gymnastics Game work once more. Since most people who do these reviews say that they have a patch and they are really happy with it da da da, I am going to share with you the link where I found my patch. I have had no problems with it, so please do not hold me responsible if it crashes your server, gives you a virus etc. [...] Overall, I think this game has wonderfully animated graphics and a chance for young girls to dream and create the routines that they dream of doing, like myself.
woww. July 2, 2006 Jennnaaa I used to play this game all the time when I was younger. It was really fun and I loved it but somehow it got scratched and didn't work anymore. But otherwise this is a great game. And to the chick who said that its unrealistic, like how would you know your on level 5 im a level 9 gymnast and it's a game like why would they make her do sit ups and push-ups and all the other stuff you mentioned.
* Patch available for Pentium 4 chips * January 13, 2006 MrMurr (New Zealand) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
For all those people having problems with this game on Pentium 4 computer, there is now a patch from VUgames that you can download. I'm happily running this on a P4 using XP and DirectX 9.0c and it runs fine. Graphics are still a little coarse, but quite acceptable given the standards used when the software was written. My daughter is now very pleased, and hopefully this information will help make some other kids happy too. The game is a good way to learn some of the names of the moves. Cheers!
Doesn't work August 26, 2005 Techno hippie (Australia) Simply put, this game did not work on our computer. Bad programming, guys! My daughter was so disappointed. You'd think that with all that money that parents and kids are spending on Barbie products they could at least afford to get the game right.
such a fun game!!!!!!!!!!!!! August 23, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
i love this game. i used to play it for hours choosing outfits and moves and practicing and even getting trophies and ribbions and beat the other girls. yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but i hate that it stopped playing my new hp cd-rom DVD-ROM COMPUTER. DONT GET IT if you have a 64mb ram or 128 mb also you must not have directx 9.0 its terrible at installin and read the agreement to know if you need a 24x speed and it might send viruses to your enternet especally dsl, comcast, and platnium windows. so your taking a risk. hope i helped!!!!!!!!!!!
