Good for vocabulary August 12, 2008 xxatti (Florida, USA) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Rosetta Stone is a good product for building vocabulary and even helping with pronunciation, but you won't get fluency from it. I don't think it's worth the price honestly. If you can get it for free, or if you have the money to spend on it, then it's a nice tool to add to your arsenal. But I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this product because it's just not enough by itself if you want to truly master a language. I think this is good for beginners, but once you reach the intermediate level you will need more than Rosetta Stone. If you can't afford the Rosetta Stone products, then stick to the cheaper programs while watching movies, and listening to music and you'll get a much greater exposure to the language than Rosetta Stone will give you.
Excellent Start, as Always March 30, 2008 Hando Seward 28 out of 28 found this review helpful
I think Rosetta Stone is an excellent product, I have used the French and Russian and I find their method infinitely better than trying to memorize Russian words next to their meaning in your native tongue. I always thought I just couldn't learn languages but then I realized that the way I was attempting to learn was at fault and Rosetta Stone offers a great and logical alternative. Some people complain about Rosetta Stone not making you a master in the language it is teaching you but it is not supposed to. It gets you to where you can communicate well in that language and if you want to continue learning you can pick up a secondary school book of that language to get your grammar really squared away. I found Russian Rosetta Stone to be as good as the French, which is to say very good, fun and easy to use. After using my friend's I plan to buy it sometime next month. As for the first reviewer that is a completely ridiculous expectation of the software, and a completely ridiculous reason to give a product a poor rating and that review should be taken down in my opinion.
a software note December 27, 2007 bukhtan (Chicago, Illinois, USA) 13 out of 70 found this review helpful
This product is sold as licensed software. Users will NOT be able to load it onto more than one computer. This aspect of the product is not clear from the blurbing on the Rosetta Stone website. It is a "single-user" product. Don't think that you can share this with friends, or that it is appropriate for a lending collection.
