LiveUpdate does not work as it should March 21, 2006 Thomas Wikman (Texas) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Well Norton Antivirus 2005 did do some good things, it found and cleaned viruses on my hard drive, and found spyware. However, the LiveUpdate feature did not work. The reason it did not work was because a parameter in the installed icon was wrong, right out of the box. The annoying part was that the error messages and the on-line help I got claimed everything else but that. Eventually the problem was identified and fixed, and it worked for a while, then the problem reemerged, something overwrote the parameter again. At this point I uninstalled Norton Antivirus and all other Symantec products and started using McAfee. I believe the root of the problem was that I already had another Symantec product (Norton Antivirus Internet protection) installed on my PC that came with the PC. There are issues with this product that Symantec does not even seem to be aware of. Unfortunately it is extremely difficult to be allowed to talk to someone about technical problems. As you know live technical support is not offered with this product.

My computer has Windows XP Pro, as an operating system and I have had no luck getting the Norton Internet Security software to function properly. So What do you do? You call customer support, and who answers the phone, somebody who cannot speak ledgable english. As best you can, you follow the instruction given, and no dice. The software does not function, as claimed. Next move you call again, and same old story. The Tech cannot speak ledgable english, no way to e - mail Norton, and you are stuck. So you call Microsoft, and ask if their operating system is compatable with Norton Internet Security? Again you get someone who barely speaks english. You go on line as instructed by the error notice on the screen, print out the instructions and you tinker, according to instructions, and once you are done, same problem. If you deceide to buy this software ask a million and one questions, and make sure you get the right answers before you plop that cash down on the counter. Ask for a money back guarantee, and if you are refused, keep going.
