Amazon.com Product Description Teacher's Toolbox is designed to help teachers save time on routine tasks such as calculating grades and generating attendance and performance reports. It also allows the teacher to easily import and export information to and from Microsoft Word and Excel and other database programs, and to help organize lesson plans and seating charts while making administrative tasks easier. You can customize periods, categories of grades, and weighting of various components of each overall grade, and create your own grading system (numbers, letters, etc.). The program calculates average and median scores for each assignment, and updates assignments and due dates with a single click. You can also automatically perform such functions as curving grades and dropping the lowest score. The lesson plan organizer allows you to schedule activities by day and period, while the test library allows you to create quizzes and exams using a customized database of test questions, with separate answer keys. The many reports (progress, performance, progress) that Teacher's Toolbox can generate can be automatically translated into HTML and uploaded to rSchool.com. You'll create passwords for students or parents to safely access individual records and chart progress.

If you have an original version 5 from rSchool.com then it's a keeper! November 24, 2008 Classroom Doctor (Eastern US) If you are considering purchasing "Teachers Toolbox 5" from ACTIVISION and it is indeed the version Ablesoft sold under the website of rSchool.com....KEEP IT- DO NOT BUY the newer UPDATES that are labeled "Complete"... I did and was very sorry to discover the difference. It appears that the "Toolbox" label changed hands as well as the quality.... I'll stay with the one I have kept records from since its "birth" in 2001... I have been using computer grade books for the last 15 years and have tried plenty. Toolbox 5 wins out when compared to the methods used over my past 25 years of record keeping. What did I do before teaching you ask I was a bookkeeper and legal secretary. Toolbox 5 wins out hands down. Just remember to make a back up copy of your version and that will be all the "insurance" you need for update. I currently use XP and have not tried Vista to see if indeed it is compatiable so I can not attest to the stability in that framework. GOOD Luck and Happy Grading with Toolbox 5 under the folder "Activision".
decent software with a major flaw.... January 7, 2006 PYim (CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is a grading software that cannot calculate properly. Entering grades and keeping track of it is fairly easy. Bring up the program is quite fast. However, when it comes to averaging the grades for my students, it's off by 0.3 percent most of the time. It's annoying to say the least. I have learned to live with this annoyance. I've written to tech support few times, but they were unable to help. I should have written this review five years ago when I first bought the program.
Two high school teachers November 27, 2003 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Both my husband and I have been using Teacher's Toolbox since '98. Its not that we don't want to change, but this program does so much. We currently HAVE to submit grades through Jackson's Grade Quick. We keep our grades on TT and just type them in at the end of the quarter on Grade Quick. TT has email links, seating charts, and attendance features that are great. If another program were better, we would switch, but that program hasn't come along!
Tchrs Toolbox July 31, 2003 greg farlow (Norwich, CT) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
The effort the program requires is more than offset by the time saved in grade calculation and weighting. Grades, attendance, flexible seating plans eliminates the use of a grde book. Be sure to make backups daily!!!
Best software I've used! March 15, 2003 SalaChic (Upstate New York) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I love this grading software. It has more features and integrates them seamlessly. It's easy to read and easy to use. It not only does grades which you can weight, but clickable seating charts and attendance plus progress reports! Better than the clunky SchoolMaster my school is pushing!!
