1 out of 5 stars Software bugs - no support - lame   September 5, 2003
Sean P. Chase (Mesa, AZ United States)
I'm running Windows XP with 1GB of RAM. When I try to run the product I get an error message that says, ""This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run." I can forgive mistakes made by software companies; however, I expect good support and fixes available ASAP. This is not the case. Companies that don't buck up on support or fix their bugs don't deserver your hard-earned dollars. Buy another math product from another company.

1 out of 5 stars A disapointing Math Software Program.   April 10, 2003
Joseph DePasquale (Summerfield, Florida United States)
The design of this program leaves much to be desired. There is poor presentation of the content which is confusing, sometimes hard to comprehend, and makes many assumptions difficult for the neophyte to understand. Text being read gives little time to absorb math concepts. Provides sample problems with little or no explanation.
I suggedt a complete revamping of this software to accomadat all levels of math competency.

2 out of 5 stars Lacking information   May 8, 2002

I am a sophmore college student who bought this software thinking it would give me a little help with home study. As soon as I started the program I couldn't find certain topics that were in my algebra book. The topics the software had were only summaries. This software should claim "along with pre-algebra, there is a brief introduction to algebra, pre-cal, calculus and trig." You would only know it was a short intro if you were or had already taken these classes. Otherwise you wouldn't know what you missing.
Don't be fooled. Know going into this you will not get much out of it.

4 out of 5 stars helpful but frustrating   April 29, 2002

I love the graphics, animations, video, charts and the glossary complete with the symbols and formulas is very helpful. I saw only one problem and that is that the practice problems are too long and time consuming. A person who is made of less steel might drop out before they even get to Algebra. I am learning the concepts and am able to do most of the problems correctly but this is only because I use another math software program to compliment this one. If you can get math advantage at a good price by all means buy it.

5 out of 5 stars New note for review.   March 10, 2002

I couldn't find where it says edit review but I would like to state that at the time of this writting it says there are two out of four who found my last review helpful. I will add more comments after spending more time with the software but I felt I had to say at least a few things. First, one person stated that you cannot find out why you answered a question incorrectly. I can't believe he said that. You click on solution, that's how. Another person said that you need something else to be complete in math. Well, you have to use the random problem generator and quizzes and examinations if you want more practice (which are included in the software).

I also wanted to note that the software is very straight forward. You don't need to click a lot to find out just how to get started. I only glanced at the ScienceDeluxe software from Studyworks and found it took a while just to see what I wanted. And then the background was white which I don't like. And there was no voice.
