Amazon.com Review Computers may have done away with ribbons, correction tape, and manual carriage returns, but let's face it--you still gotta type. Whether you're an absolute beginner or a slightly embarrassed long-time hunt-and-pecker, Slam Dunk Typing will have you clicking and clacking confidently in no time. Best of all, its basketball-themed typing games are fun! But lest your game of hoops become a game of oops, you first need to practice with some drills. Fortunately, these aren't as dreary as you might think: there's a passing drill that gets your fingers accustomed to the locations of letters on the keyboard, a slam-dunk contest in which your typing speed dictates the style and success of the dunk, and a Missile Command-like game in which deadly "word basketballs" rain down on the court--unless your quick and nimble fingers can stop them by typing the word and blasting them out of the arena. OK, so it's not exactly NBA Live 2000, but at least you'll learn how to type. The drills can get a little repetitive, but a little repetition is a good thing here, especially if you're trying to master the delicate art of not looking down at the keyboard as you type. So bring your A game, but don't forget to bring your Q, W, E, R, T, and Y games, too. --Steve Landau
Amazon.com Product Description Now there's an exciting new approach to typing that combines the thrill of fast-paced basketball action with addictive games guaranteed to build typing proficiency. There's even a coach to help monitor your progress and offer tips for improving your skills. Now learning to type is a slam-dunk! (Ages 10 and older)

Still trying to use this on Vista July 30, 2007 TrailerMan We just bought a new computer which came loaded with Vista (not the one I would have chosen form myself, but oh well). It has a feature that allows it to run older programs on it, but I can't get that to work until I get a glitch fixed that seems to be linked to outlook express. I haven't given up on Slam Dunk yet. Has anyone had success using it with Vista? P.S. I gave it two stars because I had to put in some number. I'll update this review if/when I get the program to work
Look at the Fine Print July 19, 2007 Aubrey Carol (Omaha) My son used this years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, when I recently purchased it again, I did not see that it was an older version and uncompatible with newer computers. I had to return it, but have not received my refund yet.
Great product, but does not run well on OSX+Classic mode February 22, 2007 ilen (CA Bay Area) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Running this software in OSX+Classic mode will result in occasional lagginess -- not a big deal until you're a speed typist. My kids (ages 5 and 8) love this game, and it has really improved their touch typing skills. It's also a favorite at school.
Why no WinXP upgrade??? November 28, 2004 M. Wukelic (Hawaii) 36 out of 38 found this review helpful
I have never seen a typing tutor program that kids go nuts for like Slam Dunk. It does a great job of actually feeling like a computer game, as opposed to many educational software items where the "game" aspect feels like an excuse to learn stuff. I've seen kids from third grade through seventh really love it. BUT...it does not work with WinXP!!!!! I don't know what Creative Wonders has not offered a new version, but I wish they would. Nevertheless, if you have a MAC or an older version of Windows, I heartily recommend this software.
No Longer Supported November 20, 2004 Robert Cannon (Arlington, VA United States) 48 out of 53 found this review helpful
LearningCo no longer supports this software according to their website. I could not get this software to install on a DELL Windows XP machine.
