    Amazon.com Product Description
Get the e-mail you want and nothing else. McAfee's SpamKiller quickly and easily helps you stop spam from polluting your inbox using advanced rule-based and list-based filtering. SpamKiller now works with MSN Hotmail.

SpamKiller blocks specific addresses of known spammers just as other programs do, but SpamKiller goes far beyond lists. Its comprehensive preset filters also watch for subject lines and text within messages. In fact, SpamKiller can filter based on the sender's address, subject line, body text, and message header, and can even block spam based on the message's country of origin. SpamKiller comes with thousands of filters already installed, and new filters are released regularly, based on careful analysis of McAfee.com's spam traps. SpamKiller checks McAfee.com servers once a day for new filters, so your protection is always up-to-date.

SpamKiller supports MSN Hotmail, POP3, and MAPI e-mail accounts. By directly supporting multiple client-based e-mail applications (Outlook Express, Eudora, Netscape, etc.) and Web-based e-mail clients (MSN Hotmail), SpamKiller enables you to benefit from its advanced filtering without forcing you to change how you access and read your e-mail. If you're new to fighting spam, you'll love SpamKiller's filter wizard, which lets you create new filters based on spam messages you've received. Simply choose the part of the message you want to filter on, and SpamKiller does the rest.

Spam e-mail is automatically placed into SpamKiller's Killed Mail folder so your inbox remains uncluttered and free of spam; it is held in quarantine and erased automatically after 30 days. If for some reason a legitimate e-mail is flagged as spam, you can easily recover in one quick step. To make things even easier, SpamKiller can automatically import legitimate contacts' e-mail addresses into its friends list, ensuring that their messages aren't mistaken for spam. You may also add new friends, newsletters, or complete domains to the friends list at any time.

SpamKiller does more than just eliminate spam. It's also an e-mail monitor that can check and filter e-mail from multiple e-mail accounts. Monitor and filter your home e-mail from work or your work e-mail from home. And SpamKiller can alert you when new e-mail has arrived.

If you want to fight back, SpamKiller makes it easy to send complaints. Send automatic or manual complaints, make your e-mail address look invalid to spammers, and much more. SpamKiller automatically finds and suggests the relevant e-mail addresses in both headers and text, so complaining to spammers, Web site hosts, ISPs, or anybody else just takes a few mouse clicks. The result: more spammers have their accounts cancelled.

    Product Description
Stop those unwanted e-mails. McAfee SpamKiller quickly and easily stops spam from polluting your inbox. SpamKiller gives you ultimate control over your e-mail by filtering out unwanted e-mail, while delivering the e-mail that you want to receive.

1 out of 5 stars The Spam Killer That Doesn't Kill Spam   January 23, 2007

Do not under any circumstances buy this awful product; I cannot believe McAfee, which has decent Firewall and AntiVirus software could bring out such a bad product; it's almost as annoying as the Spam that it doesn't filter.

If you put this rubbish on your PC, it will take ages to filter all the messages each time you open Outlook Express and then it will put about 1% of any spam into your junk folder and a few that are not spam.

1 out of 5 stars Absolutely DO NOT buy this horrible software   July 28, 2006

The whole deal is that you have to delete ALL your e-mail POP3 accounts and create new ones, directed to and through the McAfee site. Otherwise, it doesn't filter anything.

Yeah. I'm gonna do that, delete all my accounts. I have literally a dozen accounts for work, all with rules designed to protect my main account from spammers and route other stuff to approriate files. Wipe 'em all? I don't think so.

To make matters worse, Spamkiller removes functionality (at least in Outlook Express) even AFTER it's uninstalled. I can no longer click on a link in an e-mail and have it open up a browser window. I'm back to the ridiculous old AOL method of copying-and-pasting... or even right-clicking to copy the target URL if the address is actually longer than what's displayed for convenience.

Now I'm Googling to find out how to rid myself of the last, aggravating remnants of this GARBAGE. Seriously, do NOT buy this awful software. I was a big fan of McAfee -- their Firewall and VirusScan products are very good. But I've been burned to a cinder by this whole Spamkiller experience. It's unbelievable. I wish there was a way to give it ZERO stars.

Spamkiller must work for some people - but who? I have tried it twice - 2 different versions, 2 years apart - and it (a) froze Outlook, (b) crashed the PC, (c) corrupted the pst files (the data storage for contacts and emails), (d) swallowed and lost the emails that came in during the frutrating hours of trying to put things right. The 2nd time it came bundled with Internet Security Suite 2006, which is OK - apart from SpamKiller. After installing the suite, uninstall SpamKiller before you run any programs. You have been warned!! At very least PLEASE back up your data first, and give yourself 2 or 3 hours spare time to rectify things in case the system freezes up.

I have just uninstalled this garbage so that I can actually download emails from my server!!! For some reason my main email account server kept asking me for my password even though I submitted it many times! It just so happens that the email accounts that are NOT affected by spam were logged in and out successfully!!!

    DO NOT BUY!!!!!!

I bought the security suite and now find that it is nearly impossible to get assistance. They have blocked me from logging onto e-bay and refused to accept my acknowledged password. My account was locked and I still seem unable to unlock it with their new assigned password (which was given after they refused to accept the one I have always used before. I am not happy with my inability to get on e-bay even after submiotting the appropriate overrides. Terrible software until they fix this problem for me. Don't buy without further review. Norton isn't much better either. I had no problems until these programs created glitches.
