First Class Security Software! Easy-to-use, Must Have Tool to Protect Your Data! December 17, 2008 L. Marin (San Francisco, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I first was skeptical spending $79.95 on something I have never heard about but since I was urgently looking for something that would protect my data and keep my information private, I went ahead and bought it. I received the package only 1 day later and was very excited about getting started. The installation was surprisingly easy and absolutely straight forward; after only 2 minutes I had my first data safe set up and could encrypt my files and folders. The nice thing is that you actually don't notice a difference in terms of complexity or usability, your safe is just like any other hard drive, yet in fact it's encrypted, which is great! Oh, and you can even make it disappear, so it's not just protected by a password but also it's also hidden. Apart from the Safe, the Privacy Suite is full of other features I have started to love! My favorite is the Password Manager, which is a very easy to use tool allowing you to store and categorize all your passwords, user logins, credit card numbers, etc. in only one encrypted list. Whenever you navigate to a website or open an application that was registered with your password manager, your username and password are entered automatically. Also, the AntiTheft feature is very interesting. It sends out a hidden signal to one of Steganos' servers and in case your laptop gets lost or stolen you can use that signal to determine its location. Finally, there is a trace destructor, an email encryption tool, and a function that allows you to encrypt individual files and folders. All work nicely and are well tuned to each other. In summary, this program is worth much more than the mere $79.95 they charge and everybody claiming something else was probably too lazy to actually install it or is working for a competitor.
Does everything good at nothing September 30, 2008 Giles (D.C. USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
To start with there are plenty of applications for free that do what steganos does and better, I don't care to name them. A big issue to consider when buying this is that after version 5 there is a government backdoor. So if you plan on keeping big brother out look elsewhere. Steganos can feel free to get back to me if I have been misinformed. Why did I buy this then, other reasons I don't care to name.
