Amazon.com Product Description Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, Standard Edition is the latest version of Microsoft's highly realistic aviation simulation--the top-selling PC flight simulation ever produced. FS 2002 introduces many exciting features, including interactive air traffic control (ATC) and auto-generated scenery, plus challenging new aircraft and stunning visual enhancements that truly make Flight Simulator 2002, Standard Edition "as real as it gets." Flight Simulator 2002, Standard Edition includes a wide variety of aircraft for you to fly--from a new Cessna 208 Caravan floatplane to the Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet. You can splash down in a lake, hover in the Bell 206B JetRanger III helicopter, practice aerobatics in the Extra 300S, or fly like a famous World War II fighter ace in a Sopwith Camel. FS 2002 Standard includes a total of 12 aircraft. The most dramatic new features common to both the standard and pro editions are the interactive air traffic control system, crowded skies, and auto-generated scenery. The interactive air traffic control feature adds a new dimension to Flight Simulator. Now you can ask for takeoff clearance, get vectors for an instrument approach, and hear other traffic as you fly. In fact, the "other traffic" is itself a new feature: a new artificial intelligence system generates air traffic around and between airports. It'll be hard to pay attention to the air traffic, however, as the scenery in FS 2002 is so attractive. As you fly above cities, towns, farmland, and dramatic landscapes, Flight Simulator adds buildings and vegetation appropriate to the terrain below. Office buildings, factories, homes, farmhouses, and trees smoothly blend in on the horizon and fill the entire area with detail that adds unprecedented depth and reality to the game. Other features include more than 21,000 airports, multiplayer capability, improved weather effects, a moving map and GPS system, in-depth flight analysis, and more.
Product Description In Flight Simulator 2002, you'll enjoy a piloting experience so real it's as if you were really in a cockpit! You can also fly floatplanes that take off & land from lakes, rivers and bays Flight analysis tools and a complete airport Database are included

Flight Simulator January 27, 2008 A. Seddon (West Hartford, CT) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son loves to take off from all kinds of airports. He's really good at landing and has success navigating to find new places to land at, or just fly over them. He's 11 and has had a few flight simulator games but he does the most with this one.
Flight Sim January 7, 2008 Michael J. Henning (Costa Mesa, CA USA) MS Flt Sim 2002 is another example of how Microsoft continues to improve this line with each new release. I have used MS Flt Sims since it was first released. I am a commercial pilot and find this version useful and relistic to actual flight. I recommend this version for those who want to learn how to fly as well as previous version users. I use this version as well as version 2004 and X. This is a great deal as it offers an inexpensive way to get into flying. You will probably get hooked and upgrade to later versions.

I think This game is okay,IF you have the right components in your computer. To get the most out of this game, you need a good mainboard, sound card, and video card.I have used this game quite a bit,and have some experience with computers. The graphics are ok, but as I said, you need to have a fairly good system to run it to it's max simulating capability.I have a copy of FlightSim 2004, and will be installing it in the near future. I promise, I'm not trying to sound negative, but if you want to get a good system, get FS2004, and you'll save time and money. =)
Great fun on the computer May 1, 2007 Ronald M. Tissier (Tyler, TX United States) I am not the typical "gamer" but this software provides loads of entertainment and instruction. I highly recommend it. I selected this version rather than the updated latest release because it was less hardware intensive. Really...who needs near HDTV graphics for a little rest and relaxation?
Great Flight Sim February 21, 2007 Mark D. Zubyk (San Antonio, TX) I think this is a great game for someone who wants to understand the basics of flying and have a go at many different types of aircraft. It is realistic enough to make you feel like you're there and sense the movement and power of the plane being simulated. I only gave it 3 stars for fun because how much fun is a flying sim when you can't shoot down or race anyone?
