 Could be fun but is limited December 23, 2008

Being completely new to the Sim thing, I liked how easy this game was to learn and how simple the strategy was. However, it crashes a lot (sometimes up to every 3-5 minutes). The crashing has rendered the whole thing unplayable for me. There are other problems as well: building on anything but a perfectly flat surface is difficult-to-impossible, which makes design far less enjoyable. There are also just not enough building types (or diverse enough building styles). The placement of things and roads is often just more awkward than fun since you only have so much control. Overall: the game is really simple but possibly in all of the wrong places (assuming you can get it to work for a solid hour).
Constantly seeking more memory December 21, 2008

You need way more memory available than they say. It takes however much just to load it on, but then it autosaves every few minutes an entire additional file. It freezes my computer after I play for about 20 minutes and I have a lot of available memory. I haven't even completed a decent sized city yet. Maybe it is just my computer, but it is a certainly a disappointment for me.
The worst of the SimCities November 26, 2008

The program crashes every time I try to load a saved game. My PC runs the Sims 2 without any problems so it isn't a hardware issue. This game does not deserve the name SimCity, it does not play like a SimCity. I've gone back to older versions, and am having much more fun with them than SimCity Societies.

I wish I would have waited until now to buy Sim City Societies. $10 would be a better price for the amount of fun it offers. I bought it at the full retail price a year ago, had a good time with it for a couple of days but I haven't really played it since. I liked the aspects of the different types of cities but once I accomplished it I became bored. Perhaps I would have had enjoyed it longer if more of the aspects of Sim City had been left in. I'd been frustrated by some of the difficulties I'd encountered in Sim City 4 (staying profitable) but Sim City Societies was too easy, dumbed down way too much. It's a shame they didn't better incorporate aspects of both.

I'm not a sim fan, but I thought I would give this a try. FYI if it detects CD emulation software it won't run (yeah, just detecting it, not even running the game from emulation). If your looking for creative games with no point, this maybe for you.
