Amazon.com Product Description Learn a new language with the award-winning method used by the U.S. State Department to train diplomats. Proven effective by NASA astronauts, Peace Corps volunteers, and millions of students worldwide, the Rosetta Stone Language Library teaches new languages faster and easier than ever before. We all learn our childhood language by associating new words and phrases with the world around us. The Rosetta Stone method replicates this process by presenting vivid, real-life images to convey the meaning of each new phrase. Instead of translating, memorizing, and studying rules of grammar, you actually learn to think in the new language. Vocabulary and grammar are integrated systematically, leading to everyday proficiency. This comprehensive program provides up to 550 hours of mastery instruction in listening comprehension, reading, writing, and speaking. Systematic structure teaches vocabulary and grammar naturally, without lists or drills. Previews, exercises, and tests accompany every lesson, and there are automated tutorials throughout the program. Graphical speech recognition displays your voiceprint and compares it with the native speaker to help improve your pronunciation. (Ages 6 and older)
Product Description Rosetta Stone Russian Level I & II opens up a new world to you by teaching you how to communicate with a new culture! Reviews and testing features help identify weak points and work harder on them Comes with illustrated User's Guides and Curriculum Text books Ages 6 & up

The most effective language tool ever! May 27, 2008 Christopher C. Cantwell I have barely used my Rosetta Stone Program (Maybe ten hours), but, The other day, I was watching a movie, something was written in Russian(Cyrillic) in the background and without thinking I read it "Odessa." Then I realized what I just did. I was floored. I don't think I need to do more to review this product. I think this anecdote speaks for itself.
Learning Russian Behind the Wheel is Much Better September 9, 2007 Ben Ryland (Orlando, Florida) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As I have stated in other product reviews, Rosetta Stone is clearly overrated but solid. The problem with the overall approach is that it requires that you spend your learning time in front of a computer, which is where you do everything else. Lots of competition. I prefer to do my language learning during my otherwise wasted downtime while I drive. If I study a language while driving, I win because I use otherwise wasted hours. I, like most Americans, spend more time driving than ever before. When I get home, I want to do other essentials. My favorite car Russian course is Behind the Wheel Russian 8 CDs. This approach frees up your computer, saves your eyes, and allows you to learn to speak Russian while you drive.Behind the Wheel Russian, 8 One Hour Multi-Track CDs
Good for learning long-term, but not for immediate use August 23, 2007 D. O'Hara (Cincinnati, Ohio) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a good product for the long term objective of learning the language from the "ground up" however it does not give the business traveler the immediately needed words for greetings and similar situations.
An excellent product--but insufficient on its own August 20, 2007 David Q. Ziegler (Springfield, VA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Rosetta Stone across the board is an excellent learning tool. It "activizes" the learning processes by incorporating the senses (seeing, hearing, physically connecting) in the learning process. The program basically regurgitates the same controlled script in all languages (in my case Russian) and aims linguistically to hit the foundational areas essential for basic communication. It is excellent for expanding vocabulary and gaining understanding of basic grammer. However, it cannot be expected to be sufficient on its own. It is most effective when used in conjuction with outside instruction or other self-study tools.
Rosetta Stone Russian April 2, 2007 R. Gaines (Central Asia) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Great way to learn a language, esp if you are a visual or audio learner. My only complaint about this program is that it doesn't start you out with the alphabet to learn to read and write or pronounce the letters. Other than that it's a great language program, probably the best I've seen yet in my 8 years of living overseas and learning 2 other languages....
