Poor Software Upgrade June 10, 2008 Audiophile (NC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned two previous versions of ACL and just upgraded to 12 to make the program work with Vista. The new version is buggy and the graphics are much less vivid than my prior version (2004). I contacted the company the day after purchase for assistance and their responses were unhelpful. After several attempts to get the problems resolved, I asked for a refund and was refused. There are better products out there for less money.
MAGIX Support is Hopeless April 30, 2008 Andrew Smith (Howrah, Tasmania Australia) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Regardless of the merits or otherwise of this software (most of the features can be obtained by freeware programs), do not purchase this product if you expect support from MAGIX -- it is virtually non existent. Queries to MAGIX's website go unanswered for long periods of time, and when they are answered the responses are frequently useless. In contrast, other software producers I have dealt with are generally far more helpful than MAGIX. (Since writing the original review, I'm still waiting on support from MAGIX. Without doubt, this is the worst company I've encountered for software support.)
Idiot Proof! April 1, 2008 Steven G. Demby (Newark, DE) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I started with audio cleaning version 11 & found that it gave some trouble with windows vista compatibility. I discovered version 12 and found a few extra features to make increasingly easier to use and convert music. This is a very user friendly software and a good addition to the more advanced audio recording/ conversion user as well. Music editing is at your finger tips without having to open and close other windows just to edit and tag your music, wich version 11 didnt have.I use this software to actually record music from my digital cable provider converter box, as the music is already crystal clear and cd quality it provides limitless options as to whatever audio source you wish to record and/or convert audio to digital formats. I recommend this for both the novice as well as the expert, and it's worth every penny. If this product was over $100.00 i would still buy it. Good job Magix!
Conflicts with other software and neglibile support March 26, 2008 Dr. Gary S. Gerson 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
There are three stages in the the process of converting vinyl (or cassettes) to digital formats. The first two were performed beautifully by this program. But then the problems ensue. If you have one of any number of CD utilities on board your PC (Roxio, Sonic, etc.), this program will not copy a track-divided and named digital folio. In fact, once you go to the Magix website, you find out that this is a regular problem. OK, so I uninstall Roxio and try again. Still won't work. But now, when I try to access other software, it is not available, nor can it be repaired. I'm talking about Quick Books! No tech support of any consequence at Magix. They send you a file to inspect your PC, and then days later, send back an email based on he results of the inspection format -- telling you that you should go to their website to see their knowledge base, (I did this within ten minutes of discovering the above problems.) So I contact my Gold Tech Support and after hours, find out that Magix Audio Cleaning Lab has made irrevocable changes to my operating system. End result: format my hard drive and spend a day and a half rebuilding my software. Before you buy, look at reviews online and discover the common failings of this program. Be afraid...be very afraid....
Awesome audio January 19, 2008 Erwin Mitchell (El Paso, Texas) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
Audio cleaning lab is all I expected and more. It is easy to use for an inexperienced man like myself. It has so many possibilities, I am looking forward to using it as we convert 30 year old audio tapes to CD.
