I can't speak specifically about this version of Melodyne, but the cheaper, stripped down Melodyne Uno is great. Its best features are pitch correction and timing adjustment. It works on vocals, though naturally you can take your changes only so far, and monophonic instruments. If you had a measure with, say, eight trumpet notes, you could record eight trumpet notes out of time and pitch. With Melodyne you can go in and adjust the pitch and timing to make it sound like you wanted. Of course, there's some limits to that (too dramatic changes start sounding fake), but Melodyne is a very powerful tool.
