    Elevate Your Experience of Warfare

The setting is 2012. As the era of the nation-state draws quickly to a close, the rules of warfare evolve even more rapidly. More and more nations become increasingly dependent on private military companies - elite mercenaries with a lax view of the law. The Reykjavik Accords further legitimize their existence by authorizing their right to serve in every aspect of military operations.

Tom Clancy's HAWX lets you become a pilot of the future; it is a game primed to revolutionize the way you think about combat in the sky. Cutting-edge technology, devastating firepower, and intense dogfights help this title fit right in with the rest of the Tom Clancy franchise.

    Key Features

    • Realism and Technology-Players have the opportunity to take the throttle of over 50 famous aircrafts, and take them over real world locations and cities in photo-realistic environments created with the best commercial satellite data on the civilian market.
    • Enhanced Reality System (E.R.S.)-E.R.S. is in-game technology that helps turn novice aviators into elite pilots of the future. The Enhanced Reality System is the core of the HAWX flight experience: aircraft interception trajectories, incoming missile detection, anti-crash system, damage assessment, tactical map, and weapons trajectory control. E.R.S. also allows players to issue orders to their squadron and other units.
    • Assistance Mode-Players can ease into their flight missions and gain a level of comfort with the use of the assistance mode. Once employed, players can take full advantage of their technological support through the E.R.S and gain maximum piloting security. If the situation calls for the player to unleash the full potential of the aircraft, the assistance mode can be switched off and all safety features will be deactivated. This comes with increased risks, but allows the player advanced dog fighting maneuvers and stunning third-person views.
    • Multiplayer-Players will be able to experience the entire solo campaign with seamless jump in/jump out functionality. In PVP mode, players can challenge each other in intense dog-fighting sessions and find out who's the top gun. Winning players are rewarded with experience points and money to unlock more weapons.

    Editor's Note

I had an opportunity to take sneak peek at this game at UbiDays in San Francisco. The developer explained that until he was assigned to this project he hated flight sim games. He said that many find this type of game difficult because there is too much going on against a blue back ground making it hard to spot your enemies without being an experienced F-22 pilot. In order to make it more appealing they added the E.R.S. system mentioned above. I got to try out this functionality and found it very easy to use. The E.R.S. does not take the fun out of the game, but rather calculates optimal flight paths for you to engage the enemy. The trick is actually trying to fly the path, which keeps you on the edge of your seat. The dev then disengaged the E.R.S. and the view switched from out of the cockpit to a third person view of the aircraft. I took this chance to pull off some pretty cool dog fighting maneuvers while managing to stall out only once, which even I was able to recover from. At first look, the controls are fitting for everyone from the best pilots to even us novices. The scenery is amazing, giving you a chance to hit the deck, and in my case, fly between the buildings of Rio de Janeiro. This game has the feeling of a first-person shooter in the air with easy pick-up and playability.
