    Editorial Reviews:

    Product Description

After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson finds his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. His biggest problem is dealing with his new friend, Tyson-a six-foot-three, mentally challenged homeless kid who follows Percy everywhere, making it hard for Percy to have any "normal" friends.

But things don't stay quiet for long. Percy soon discovers there is trouble at Camp Half-Blood: the magical borders which protect Half-Blood Hill have been poisoned by a mysterious enemy, and the only safe haven for demigods is on the verge of being overrun by mythological monsters. To save the camp, Percy needs the help of his best friend, Grover, who has been taken prisoner by the Cyclops Polyphemus on an island somewhere in the Sea of Monsters, the dangerous waters Greek heroes have sailed for millennia-only today, the Sea of Monsters goes by a new name.the Bermuda Triangle.

Now Percy and his friends-Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson-must retrieve the Golden Fleece from the Island of the Cyclopes by the end of the summer or Camp Half-Blood will be destroyed. But first, Percy will learn a stunning new secret about his family-one that makes him question whether being claimed as Poseidon's son is an honor or simply a cruel joke.

5 out of 5 stars A new kind of fantasy hero   July 13, 2008
Christy A. Mair (San Antonio TX)
I love the Greek Mythology It's a great change from fairy stories. Its a different kind of magic. I have read all the books in this series except the 4th book I am still getting to that one. I love how the main character is not Hercules. Percy Jackson is a new kind of Hero.

5 out of 5 stars Loved It!   July 9, 2008
    M. Lehman (Mitchellville IA)
This series is so exciting! One of the best I've read. These books are intense and not for a light read. It's hard for me to be patient while reading these books. I want to hurry and get through the book so I can finish the journey with them and see what happens, also so I can start the next book. Read first...Percy Jackson and the Olympians book one "The Lightning Thief".

5 out of 5 stars The Sea Monstors (Percy Jackson and the Olypians, Book 2)   July 4, 2008
    Karen S. Ramey (Parker, CO)
The entire series is absolutely a must! The books have humor, drama, excitement, and are hard to put down.

4 out of 5 stars Another quality story for the kids   June 28, 2008
Christopher Ekstrom (Columbia, CT United States)
Rick Riordan does a wonderful job of continuing the story of Pereus Jackson and his friends from Camp Half-Blood. Kids will be intrigued by both the continuing storyline and by the well done connections to monsters and heroes of Greek mythology. All of this is written with a bit of humor in vocabulary and vernacular that kids understand and relate to. Jessie Bernstien's interpretations of the characters' voices adds to the entertaining quality of the audio book production.

    Highly recommended

5 out of 5 stars Awesome book!   June 19, 2008
    Book Mom (WV)
Excellent book! My son loved this series, and hounded me to read it. I did, and also read it to the fourth and fifth grade classes that I have for Read Aloud. Each week, the kids remembered what had happened the previous weeks, including specific details. And they remained quite attentive while I read, as well - which says a lot about the books ability to keep them involved. I would recomment this for any child 9 years old and up, and even for adults interested in this genre. Only one caveat - it helps to be knowledgeable of basic mythology. Enjoy!
