Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friendsone a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of AthenaPercy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods. Greek Mythology for the young July 13, 2008 Christy A. Mair (San Antonio TX) I love the Greek Mythology It's a great change from fairy stories. Its a diffrent kind of magic. I have read all the books in this series except the 4th book I still getting to that one.
Excellent book for all ages July 7, 2008 Meredith A. Speier (Minnesota, USA) I read this book (and Sea of Monsters) to my 8 and 9 year old kids and they loved it. My 8 year old is also dyslexic and I think having a hero with a learning disability is empowering to him. We're starting Book 3 this week, but so far the series has been really engaging and always leaves the kids asking for more! And to be honest, I want to read it every night as well. There's excitement, mystery, suspense, attempted murder, and even a bit of a crush woven in there...what's not to love?
glad its not just a myth!!! July 5, 2008 Angela (earth) this book is one of the funniest and most entertaining books i have ever read!!!! the idea of it is interesting and the style in which it is written is gripping, clever, and easy to read. its a hilarious and contemporary take on the famous myths we all know and love. the characters are strong and well-rounded. the plot is filled to the brim with twists and turns bound to keep you reading into the wee hours of the morning!!!! i recomend this witty novel to anyone with a sense of humor and a preference ot Greek mytology. will spark new interest into the next generation of mythbusters!!! ;-)
GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! July 5, 2008 This book is sooo good. It's hilarious, action-packed, interesting, and with a great plot that twists and turns. It's about this boy, Percy Jackson, who eventually finds out he is the son of Poseidon and the daughter of his mortal mother. Freaked out, the poor kid is given a dangerous quest, but he battles through it bravely with his friends. It's sooo funny! The Olympian gods appear everywhere, and can be a help or and annoyance. The characters are fresh and bright and lovable. If you buy this book, make sure to get the next three too!! These great books are fantastic.
