    Product Description
With Photoshop Elements 6, the most popular photo-editing program on Earth just keeps getting better. It's perfect for scrapbooking, email-ready slideshows, Web galleries, you name it. But knowing what to do and when is tricky. That's why our Missing Manual is the bestselling book on the topic. This fully revised guide explains not only how the tools and commands work, but when to use them.

Photoshop Elements 6 is packed with new features. You get a new Quick Edit function, Windows Vista compatibility, improved RAW conversion, a handy Quick Selection Tool, and more. In fact, there's so much to the latest version that it can be quite confusing at times. Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual carefully explains every feature the program has to offer by putting each one into a clear, easy-to-understand context --something no other book does!

    • Repair and restore old and damaged photos, and retouch any image.
    • Jazz up your pictures with dozens of filters, frames, and special effects.
    • Learn which tools the pros use -- you'll finally understand how layers work!
    • Create collages and photo layout pages for greeting cards and other projects.
    • Get downloadable practice images and try new tricks right away.

This guide progresses from simple to complex features, but if you're ready for the more sophisticated tools, you can easily jump around to learn specific techniques. As always, author Barbara Brundage lets you know which Elements features work well, which don't, and why -- all with a bit of wit and good humor.

2 out of 5 stars Review of PhotoShop Element 6   May 9, 2008

This book has a lot of information, however it is not easy to use. To deal with a specific topic or issue, you end up jumping to different areas of the book. It is better than nothing, but not user friendly, especially for someone new to Photoshop.

5 out of 5 stars Well worth the cost   May 4, 2008

This book is well worth the price. In fact, the brief mention of getting the camera RAW converter plug-in from Adobe and instructions on how to use it was worth the price of the book.

Not only that, but the author provides her email address in the front of the book, and will actually answer any questions you have concerning anything you don't understand. I find this fact amazing. I cannot imagine where she gets the time to do this.

Since I have several years experience with an ancient Photoshop 6, this may have helped me when referring to the book, but it also gives me preconceived notions of how to do things that are not necessarily correct in relation to Elements 6, so I find the book very useful.

    4 out of 5 stars Photoshop   April 27, 2008

Book is full of good info. Little overwhelming. My first usage with this kind og program. So book is good to help me for the most part. Every once in a while differance between reading what the book says to do and actually doing it. But for the most part I put that to inexperiance on my part. Would liked to have spent a bit less on it though. Over all I like it quite a bit.

    5 out of 5 stars Excellent tutorial - practical   April 27, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

I have used Adobe Photoshop Elements versions 4, 5 and now 6. Instructions with the software product are incomplete and I never got past rudimentary level of skill. This Missing Manual is a good solution to learn how to actually use the software. Verion 6 software is far more complex than prior versions and a quick reference and solid instruction tool is essential. Photoshop Elements 6 - The missing manual is the answer. I liked it so much I bought both the software and this book for a family member. I also bought other books but they are not as useful.

2 out of 5 stars Don't try to use icc color profiles with Elements 6   April 14, 2008

From reading Dry Creek Photo's writeup on using Printer Profiles with Digital Labs (later revised), I was under the mistaken impression that Photoshop Elements 6 could convert images to RGB printer icc profiles. It can not. Therefore, my purchase of this otherwise laudable software did me no good at all, and I was forced to return it and purchase Photoshop CS3. This later purchase of CS3 is serving me well.
